Lucien Crochet 2023 Sancerre Pinot Rose

Made exclusively of Pinot Noir harvested from several parcels … a mix of Oxfordian “caillottes” and Kimmeridgian “marne”. This Rosé is made using the direct press method with the whole berries entering the pressoir. The musts ferment in temperature-controlled cuves (85%) as well as a small percentage in older barrels (15%). The fermentation occurs over three weeks. The wines is bottled in the spring of the following year.

Crochet’s complex and age-worthy Sancerre Rosé is pure Pinot Noir, from vines planted in Oxfordian and Kimmeridgian limestone; it is harvested by hand (a rare practice in Sancerre), pressed directly, and aged on its fine lees in stainless steel for six months. Vinous without being at all overbearing, it offers the visceral salinity of the domaine’s white wines alongside the red-fruited elegance of Pinot Noir from these distinctive soils.
