The castle itself dates from the 1500s, and the estate has been producing wine since the 1800s. Franco and Gabriella Bianco are today the titular heads of the estate, enjoying the services of a very talented young winemaker, Mario Andrion, who has run the cellar since 2000. The estate makes classic Barolo and Barbaresco, but this is their entry-level offering . . . BUT from an exceptional vintage and with all the fruit sourced from the estate’s Barbaresco vines. On the nose there is red rose florality, with cranberries, red currants and sour cherries on the palate, elevated acidity, and fine, integrated tannins.
