2021 Stefano Occhetti Roero Reserva

Considered the estate's top wine and it does not disappoint. Red cherry, tar, fresh roses, orange rind, lovely cocoa powder tannins. Already delicious, but has a big future ahead.

THE VINEYARD The family vineyard of Stefano's grandfather, very low yielding, 280m above sea level. First harvested by Stefano in 2019, but first vintage bottled separately is 2020. 0.6 hectare in size.

VINE AGE 70+ years of age

SOIL Sandy soils (around 45%) with higher percentage of limestone and clay than Sanche.

FERMENTATION Fermented with indigenous yeasts (pied de cuvée) in concrete vat with submerged cap for duration of fermentation, about 2 weeks. Malo-lactic completed in barrel.

AGING Aged around 3 years in 225 & 500L French oak barrels, 3 years old. No filtration or fining at bottling.
